About the Doctor

Dr. Jason Jampol, or Dr. Jay as he is known best, has become Long Island's source for family and pediatric wellness care over the last 8 years.  Opening BodyWise with his wife Jae, in the summer of 2002, their dreams of running a true wellness center and holistic spa quickly came to fruition.  But, it didn't start that way...

After graduating chiropractic school in 1999, Dr. Jay and his soon to be wife, Jae, came back to Long Island where he grew up to look for a job working as an associate in a doctors office.  Not finding a job about 3 months into his arrival back to LI, money had to be made so he went back to the job he new best from working it many days as a teenager: Bagel making.  Needing to still interview during the day, Dr. Jay took a job at a 24 hour bagel store, working the night shift.  Well, as luck would have it, the job only last one day for the next day after working all night, he was called for an interview and go an associate position at an office in Stonybrook.  The practice was multidisciplinary and heavy on personal injury and auto accidents; not the ideal setting for how he wanted to practice, but  a job none the less.  Knowing very quickly that this was not the way he wanted to practice, Dr. Jay spent 8 months learning what not to do when he went out on his own.  And, out he did in the spring of 2000.  His first shot at his own practice, Jampol Family Chiropractic, started in the esthetics room of the spa his wife worked in.  This 6x10 room worked...he started adjusting all the massage therapists at the spa, which then lead to referrals of their clients and soon a practice was born.  But, the room was just that - a room and it just couldn't support a thriving practice.  And, after a short run, Dr. Jay was forced to go back to work as an associate to make steady money to live on.  Newly married, living on Long Island - there was no other choice.

This brought him to an office in Rocky Point, another multidisciplinary office, but this was was even better.  This office was run by an "unhealthy" chiropractor who did not like to adjust people.  And, after a good solid month of dreading day after day of having to go to work, Dr. Jay made the final decision that he would open his own office and practice true chiropractic - something there was obviously a lack of and a major need for.  Leaving this office, an opportunity arose to take space in Gold's Gym in Port Jefferson Station.  The gym had just been renovated and this was going to be the place for the dream to begin.

Dr. Jay started Bodydome, Center for the Restoration and Maintenance of Health in the Summer of 2001.  And, the practice was great.  At around the same time, his wife Jae, about 4 months pregnant, had broken away from her original job to open her own space in Port Jefferson as well, called BodyWise - also to become a thriving massage business.  Both businesses grew, but after the birth of their first son, Phoenix, things got tricky.  Jae went back to work about 4 weeks later.  Being a massage therapist, she couldn't take Phoenix to work with her so Dr. Jay took him to the gym.  To complicate matters, Jae was breastfeeding.  From the bags of frozen milk, to running to the gym between clients to feed Phoenix, to being a slave to a breast pump that became like another organ for Jae, they decided they needed a better space so their family could be together.  So, after a little over a year in practice, they decided to combine offices into one, keep the name BodyWise, and make a wellness center/holistic spa that was quadruple the size of what they had.  Now, the story should end here...but it doesn't.

Loving Port Jefferson and wanting to be more in the village, they found a space in an old house that was perfect.  The landlord was great, they were renovating everything...this was going to be the spot.  So, they gave notice to their current landlords and set a time to be able to be in to the new office and start to practice.  In stepped the village of Port Jefferson.  Long story short, after starting renovations on this new place, they were forced to stop and move on in search of a new location.  But, with weeks from having to leave their current locations and no place to go, their fate took a turn for the better.  Introduced to a landlord in Port Jeff by a realtor in the area, he informed Dr. Jay and Jae that the space where Coach Realtors was on E. Main St was going to be available and it just went up.  They were moving next door to a bigger space and leaving a beautiful space with views of the water behind.  They looked, they signed and the rest is history...

It is now 8 years in and Dr. Jay has built one of the biggest chiropractic  family wellness practices on Long Island.  Seeing half of his patients as children, he continues to help families achieve their wellness goals with his wife Jae and their dedicated staff.

Dr. Jae and Jae currently live in beautiful Port Jefferson with their two sons, two cats and two fish.
